Had high tea buffet with my 2 sisters, mom and Hubby earlier today at Lao Beijing @ Novena Square.
Service was not bad, not much crowd and food was ample. Some of the items on the menu were on the buffet table while the rest were served when we place orders.
The various dumplings and noodles had to be ordered but for a start, each of the dumplings will be served without us having to order and we can re-order as much as we like. But we did not. There are plenty of other things to be eaten and we had our fill.
The only item that we could have 1 serving each is this...
Self wrapped Popiah.
On the menu, it's call "special popiah" or something to that effect.
Erm... the only special is that we got to self wrap lor. What others so special? Nothing what.
Each of us only can have ONE serving, so I told my sisters, mom and hubby that we have to take a pic of our creation before eating BUT hub's popiah was already in his stomach, hence, there's only 4 popiahs on picture.
Clockwise, Top left, Mom's, Youngest Sis, Middle Sis and lastly mine.
We all had a good laugh over our popiahs. Mine's flat and fat! Mom's looks the best.
Of course mine will look flat and fat... look at the liow in mine!
BOUNTIFUL!
We went to Plaza Singapura later on and I bought loads of Japanese condiments that will go with rice, good for those days when I'm too lazy to go to the market and we are too lazy to go out to eat too.
Various Japanese condiments for our choosing, includes a miso soup base somewhere in there.
Of course, I know its not healthy to be eating all these too frequently. So I shall space it out. These are really so convenient for those mornings when we decide to bring our lunch.. just cook rice and pour this on! Or just bring a sachet and do it when we are ready for lunch.
In addition to these, hubby was walking around and he found this.
Knob replacements! Hence, instead of spending more on a kettle, he found the knobs which he can use on the kettle lid.
To give a general idea.... this is how my kettle lid looks like now.
SEE! I wasn't exaggerating when I said my lid was in 3 pieces!
The bad news is, the screw on the knob is too big.... Hubby spent at least 20 mins expanding the hole on the lid. The knob finally fitted BUT, my kettle will no longer whistle.
That flab that is making the whistle is just too difficult to fit in... so either we spend more $ or we live with the non-whistling now.
I guess, since the kettle has no hole underneath and can still serves its fundamental purpose of being a kettle, i.e. to hold water to be boiled, then we shall keep it.
It IS the economic recession after all, though it certainly DON'T look that way when we were in PS.
