1st and last visit to Chef Chan

This will be the first and last visit to Chef Chan for hubby and myself... Pretty nice decor, where east meets west kind of decor I feel.

Chef Chan himself is going into private dinning and he's closing his restaurant in North Bridge Road this Sunday... I'm glad Hubby and myself had a chance to sample his food before he changes his management style. =)

We ordered a feast for ourselves last evening.

To prepare for a stomach for those food, we have the liang teh... some ba bao liang teh... I think it looks quite simple, can make this at home myself too. =)

Starters, we had Shark Fins. Woo... The shark fins is not your usual starchy thick gluey kind of paste. This IS the real thing ok! There were really pieces, no, make that BIG thick pieces of crab meat and fins can be BITTEN into with tonnes of crab roe! With pepper and red vinegar...Shiok!

Hubby din like it, he said too 'fishy' but to me, no lei... very nice. Non of that also. Maybe coz hubby himself don't like sashimi.. so that's why? Anyway... Shiok till.... wah...

Chef Chan is famous for his crispy chicken and of course we HAD to get that!Crispy 1/2 Chicken. The skin is very nice! Light and crispy! Meat wise, I feel quite normal though... But the skin is to die for. hahaha.. I'm a chicken skin lover!

Stir fried blackpepper beef tenderloin. I felt the blackpepper taste was too strong but the beef is very soft and tender. Non of that chewy chewy feeling.

We also had the prawn balls...Very light and crispy. Truly melts in your mouth! Non of those greasy feeling after eating.

Darling somehow must get some kind of rice or main dish... so we ordered a claypot vermicelli with shredded chicken. Not in claypot coz we asked the waitress to split into 2 bowls for us. Very nice! Not the usual taste. There's a unique taste to it, can't really describe the taste to it but it's really very nice.

To top off everything and and to have a sweet ending to the whole meal, we had egg tarts. Not just any simple egg tarts, but it's ginger egg tarts. There's a slight ginger taste to the egg custard. But the pasty is really good! Flaky and crispy! There's 4, but actually it's very small, so we can easily fit everything into our stomach. Real good! Kind of missing the taste now. =D

After such a huge feast, we took a walk down to Robinsons in the search for some BB gifts for 2 BB that are coming out to meet us in a mere matter of months.

Unfortuntely, we are not able to find much... but!

Check this out!I've seen this thru emails but this IS the first time that I'm seeing it myself! COOL don't you think?I'm so impressed with this Pavement Picasso!

You can find this outside Robinsons, Raffles City. It's protected by a plastic tentage just outside Robinson. (From the side exit in the bags department!)

Better check it out before it's remove!

And I'm feeling so proud. Know why? Coz while I was busy taking a photo of taking this pavement art, there was an Indian family next to me, and the father told his family, look at it from the big screen *referring to MY camera* after he has captured it from his Hp. =D

Welcome to Singapore!

And this was what Sao Feng (Chow-Yun Fat) said or rather bellowed out in his opening of probably about not more than 15 mins appearance in the show, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Sao Feng and his "Welcome to Singapore!" and "MORE steam!"

Lots of treachery, losts nagivation, betrayals before THE last battle... GO watch it. Very nice!

And BE sure to stay through the credit rolls!
Isn't he just so sauve? Gosh...

Pictures are randomly taken from the internet.

We've been to the Sale worth waiting for.

And it was not that great a sale after all la.

It could have been if we've gone during the members's sale last week but I was so busy at work and hubby has too little leave to waste on shopping, or so he claims...

So anyway, the only time, we could both go was on Sat, after mass.

Had dinner at Emerald Plaza at my favourite Korean shop and hubby had his chicken curry then we walked over to Robinsons.

There was NOT much of a crowd! I was so surprised. But then again, I guess, most ppl would have gone during the members' sale lor.

I din need anything, so we went directly to the mens' department to get his pants and shirts.

After numerous trips to the changing room where he try his pants, we finally made payment for 2 pants and 1 shirt. *phew* Talk about women shopping, men shopping lagi longer!

Went to the household department and I got another Tanyu Clay pot, this time is the 5L pot so that I can boil my soup using it. Also manage to get some vitamins and nick nacks before calling it a night.

Wanted to take a rest and a drink at Mac but sooo crowded so we just bought a slurpee from 7 Eleven and then wait for 162.

As usual, it took forever to come la. So what else is new right?

And hor, really quite bang that we din manage to go to the members' sale lor. There were further discounts on top of those discounted items! All in, we spent close to $1800! But if we had manage to go there last week, I think, we probably only spent $130 max!

=(

Just TOO bad lor.

Spiderman 3

1 word

COOL!

Decided to go catch Spiderman 3 on an impulse and after booking the tickets, we went to my parents' plc for dinner.

We also bought the popcorn set that comes with 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream for like $8+ online too. Not bad. But too much snacks to be eating after midnight lor. =(
Then since we are watching the midnight movie and I was quite tired out, I took a short nap on the sofa and hubby took a super unglam picture of me! He now calls me 'hamburger head'! =(

But I din wanna go and get too comfortable on the bed, what if I overslept and missed the show? =(

Saturday, May 5

it's infectious!

Hubby and I are infected by Phantom!!!!

Now, every waking moment, we can't stop humming and singing (albit very out of tune) to the musical!

We literally are holding on to the lyrics to everywhere we go in the house. I can even 'hear' it in my sleep!!!

Questions.

A few days ago, Hubby asked me at night when I was trying to study....

Jer: Dear, if you can, will you blog via HP?
me: erm.... maybe lor. Y?
Jer: Then I think you should get Nokia e65.
me: *after taking a look* Not very nice lei...Y lei?
Jer: Coz got wi-fi ma, then u can blog on the go. At hm or in sch, anywhere as long as got wi-fi u can blog.
me: orh...

And yesterday morning, Hubby asked me via msn...

Jer: Dear, what are your dreams?
Me: ermmm.... work part tm, spend mre time wif our kids n family?
Jer: OK
Me: Y?
Jer: Don't tell you...

Last night, after Phantom, on the way home, in the bus, I asked him...

Me: Darling, what is the one thing you missed about being single huh?
Jer: er.... only 1 thing ar? Can many not?
Me: -_-" OK. Can lor...
Jer: hmmm... I miss my bed.
Me: Still have anything else?
Jer: ...er.... no more.
Me: Like that where got many things? Only 1 ma.
Jer & Me: hahahahaha...

I think we are turning into 'why' 'questionable' kids. >.<

angel of music

I've finally watched Phantom of the Opera! And bought the program as remembrance.

When I missed it 13 years ago, I was longing for it!!! But that time I was only in my early teens, no chance to get so much $$$ to go!

But now, after working for so many years, waiting and hoping that they'll come, I finally watched it!

I've heard that the cast is not as good as the orginal cast, but no choice right?

Anyway, the musical is good! Very nice!!!! But only thing quite sad is that Raoul and Christine don't have chemistry... when they sing along each other, something don't feel quite right.. But she and Phantom have the chemistry. Both of them compliment each other well. GOOD!

The setting, the lights and costumes were great! I really like it.

During the half time, as we were moving off to the washroom, I was walking beside a foreigner and he said "They are making so much noise, I can't sleep." I was stunned!!!! Paid so much for the Cat A seat and he wanna sleep???! Gosh! What a waste of ticket and money! But he went on saying that this is the 3rd time he's watching it....

But still!?

Really very nice. I love it! =)

Then also quite funny lei, on every seat in the theatre, there was this. We have not viewed it yet, now sure what the CD contains.... But for the 2 of us, we got 3 pieces, coz the seat that hubby was sitting in had 2 pieces stuck to each other.

End to my PH

PH today and we as usual laze till we are happy before moving our ass out of the house.

Orginal plan was to get lunch downstairs then go to TTSH to pay Nic a visit and then we go to East Coast for a walk... But we never made it to East Coast. We did however manage to go to TTSH after our lunch/tea at Killiney in Square 2.
I had my French Toast and we each had a coffee. A tad too sweet for my liking, but not bad lor. French toast... hm.. pretty normal lar.. I like the melted butter but not kaya... so in the end, I finished all the butter but left the kaya almost untouched. Hungry Hubby waiting for food. We have not eaten anything substantial for the whole day, but then again, we were nuahing at home most of the time, so this was enough to last us till dinner.

Thank God, my godbrother, Nic is looking good! He can talk and joke with us and he even chatted with us for almost an hour before we left. Best part of the news is that, the intial tests shows a negative reading!! Hip Hip Hooray!!! Doc says, if tml's blood test is normal, he can be discharged! =D

We walked around Square 2 after leaving him and then went to the Golf House near our plc for dinner...
it was so crowded! But thank God, we did not have to wait long for a table. We had to sit in the smoking corner but coz of the ceiling fans, we did not have to take in much of the 2nd hand smoke at all. GOOD!

Feeling famished, hubby went to order food. We had quite alot for just the 2 of us.. but the funny thing was, when we were discussing what to order, it did not sound so much! We had rojak with lime juice. A plate of hor fun with kai lan. (Which kai lan came first, that explains the small plate of veggies left). And thank God, hubby took my suggestion in just ordering 1 plate of hor fun to share... he was thinking of a plate each!We also had 10 sticks of Satay (5 mutton and 5 pork) and to complete the meal, BBQ Wings.

Lots of food hor?! But between the 2 of us, we polished every single bit off! The only thing that was left was my lime juice which I really had no room for anymore.

Really chiam lei... yesterday already ate so much, today eat again... and hubby says next time go again to try the claypot tian qi! Wah.. sure over eat again! But... to be honest, I don't think I'll mind. I like the claypot frogs... and the satay is quite good! Not that oily. Only thing is the peanut sauce was stone cold. If it's hot, it will be even nicer!

I'm one who is 'allergic' to satay at night... if I eat too much, I will puke. Serious. So I only took 3 or 4 sticks... but also depends on the satay. If it's not oily, I can stomach more. If it's oily, I can only take 1 or 2 sticks before I start to feel queesy and start behaving like a 'merlioness'. So, by the fact that I could eat, 3 or 4 sticks, this Satay is worth a try! hahahaha..

Needed the washrooms to clean our hands and their washrooms are semi-opened! The washing area is open like you see while, if you need the privacy, it's available too. Quite nice hor? Think the only opened / semi-opened toilet I've seen is in the Zoo... So in an area like this, I must snap a shot! hahaha... Call me 'sua ku' lor... but hor, I've been staying in this area for so long, I've never eaten there... and NEVER did I know that prawns fishing is available too!Well, the rates are not really cheap. But I guess, it's kind of fun if you are with the right company. But, all the time that we were watching, only a father and son team manage to catch a prawn. The rest were just holding out the rod.

While we were watching them, we suddenly remember this taiwaness lady who has broken all records in fishing for prawns and she can even choose to catch a female or male prawn at her whim and fancy!!!!

Power hor?!

So, this is an end to my PH and now, blogging at home and feeling abit of "Wednesday Blue". =S

Food, Glorious Food!

I decided to stay home today since tml is a PH and I have my last media assignment due tonite at 2359 hrs.

Hubby having received his first pay check, brought me to a nice dinner at
Pariss International Seafood Buffet Restaurant in Marina Square. =)

There were soooo much food that we were bursting after spending almost 2 hours there.... at our table There was such a wide array of food, I think we did not manage to try everything... but among those that I did manage to try. I like the shark fin's soup best! Really quite nice!!! Guess, I'm not an environmentist after all... But who can resists delicacy like that?!
The cold dishes, with crayfish, prawns, oysters and lots lots more.
Salad bar I think...
One of my favourites, the desert section! There was a really nice looking, purplish mochi of some sort, but when I went to get it, there was'nt any left!!! =(Don't all these look pretty? I so love looking at it!!! And I had a good time taking pictures of it and I think those ppl there must be thinking that I'm quite mad, I got a few stares.... Hubby looked erm.... embrassed... hahahahaFruits... quite common for this section though.

There's lots of other food but I din quite manage to capture everything... the staff were eyeing me already and told me no photos... so.. no choice already. But I must add that, besides the desserts, I truly ate my worth thru the sushi and sashimi section... =P I simply love sashimi...

But, we were given a window seat and from where we sat, we could see the "World's Biggest Ferris Wheel" rim which according to hubby will costs a freaking $25 for a 30 min ride...

Hubby also went on to add that, tickets to the wheel for next VDay is already sold out!!! I was just commenting wah... so romantic... then Hubby said, it's a cabin which will be shared with other people...

DUH! Well, put it this way, I don't think I will be one of those suckers who is paying that amount to be hanging in the air, sharing the cabin with some other strangers on VDay lor... Want to whisper sweet nothings also cannot, then what's the point?!

But then again, maybe for VDay, it's another kind of deal? You pay lagi more to hang in the air with your significant other in a PRIVATE cabin lor.

Back to Pariss, I like it, but it's rather pricy to go often... not to mention that I will over-eat and grow way too fat! But one thing about Buffet is this, the first time you go, everything seems very good. But the next time, when faced with the same wide selection, somehow, food does not seem as appetising anymore. =

It was a nice evening and good dinner! =) But on the way home, while in the super crowded 162, 1 digusting and inconsiderate old woman, actually took off her slippers and prop her leg on the horizontial seat in front of her!!! Argh!! And when the bus got crowded, she din even remove her legs!!! It was till much much later when the bus was bursting then she remove her darn legs. She alone occupy 3 seats (1 for herself, which is fine, then 1 more for her damn legs and the last for her bloody bag!!!) for the first part of the journey lor! So inconsiderate! Damn her!!!

Then when she finally realised in her idiotic brain that the bus was crowded, she moved. A couple took those 2 seats and then she started telling them about some religious things. Wah lau!!!

I was waiting for the chance to snap her photo and post it to the news or something, but damn! She alighted before I could do it!!!

Damn her lor!!! Inconsiderate!!!! Hate people like her! She's old, white hair, but speaks English, carries a plastic bag and starts handing out Disc on "karma" or something. Bleh!!!!
