What a Scare!

Our muffin gave me quite a scare today. A scare that I hope will NOT repeat and not haunt us again.

For the last few days, I've noticed that muffin likes to kick/jabbed/squirm in the mornings. From around 9am to 11am is when muffin seems to be the most active. Or when I'm hungry is when muffin will protest too.

But today, there's no movements! No matter hw hard I try to talk to muffin, shake my still-not-too-big belly, there's nothing! I panic.

I called the Gyn and he told me to go down to Mt A to the delivery suite to do a CTG scan just to be safe.

I literally flew there.

Thank Goodness, all is fine. Muffin's heartbeat is regular at about 157 and there's lots of movements detected on the machine. The irony is, muffin moved LOTS! LOTS and LOTS! Causing the sensors to keep loosing signals coz muffin just refused to stay in position and here I was worried sick.

I really felt quite silly to be there when the nurses gave me knowing smiles/nods/understanding.... they seem to be just too understanding when they know that I'm a 1st time mommy.

But, I swear. Muffin really refuse to move this morning prior to the CTG!

What ever it is, I just hope and pray tat our muffin will just continue to grow, safe and healthy and don't give me and the daddy such scares again!!

clumsy me... and another day out shopping

A few days ago, just as the hub and me were leaving home to go for dinner at the nearby coffee shop, and in my haste and as much as my tiny baby hands will allow me to, I tried to take the purse, tissue and also my water bottle.

In that split second, the water bottle slipped from my hand and went down to the floor leaving a huge puddle of water and a wide gaping hole in my bottle. *sigh* As much as the water is a mess to clear, I sighed for my bottle. I generally do carry a bottle of water with me when I go out and now my perfect size bottle is gone. *sigh*

Yes, we are gng for dinner but as much as possible, I try to bring my own water, since I'm trying to reduce carbonated and caffeinated drinks, bring my own water is the easiest.

Hub suggested getting another bottle since it was so cheap, $7 or so from NTUC but I declined. Seeing the quality of the bottle when it fell from my dining table to the floor and the mess it created out of my clumsiness, only a better quality bottle will suit my needs.

And I know just the brand that I'm gng to get! Nalgene! I have 2 Nalgene bottles currently. A 1L and a 300ml. It's too big and too small for bringing around with me. The 1L is in office, and it serves as my water jug and heater (the AC is amazingly cold!). The 300ml, served me fine till I realized the hub drinks from my bottle when we go out! *argh* This was still fine till our tap water is ermm.. u know... recycled. Since then, I've not refilled bottles at any water cooler nor tap water.

Both bottles have been dropped from various heights (my full height when standing with heels no less) to the floor when filled with water, stored HOT water direct from the pantry and it's still in perfect conditions only with scratches on the outside. I swear by Nalgene bottles for durability and of course the ability to take heat of up to 100 degrees is awesome. I just literally fill the bottle with hot water direct off the pantry!

Hence, today, the hub and I went to Queensway S.C. We were there to check out some Duffles to be muffin's diaper bag, for me to get my Nalgene bottle and also to get my pair of swim shorts.

We saw lots of Duffles, but either the zip is the "U" shaped kind or its too big or too small, just haven't found 1 that suits our needs. No sight of swim shorts in sight too. But I did get my new Nalgene bottle!

Pretty in Pink and woah BPA free too. I thought only babies bottles are BPA free even bottles like these comes w/o BPA now. Such a pretty and nice color too! hahahha..

From the Nalgene Website...
"The Next-Next Generation of Nalgene bottle is here. This bottle has 53 mm opening, making it right between our current wide mouth and narrow mouth. The cap features a molded in loop, providing a convenient spot to clip or a nice finger loop for simple, comfortable carrying. Graduations are molded right into the bottle. This bottles capacity is 24 ounces or 750 ml. The cap also has a soft touch material for easy gripping.

Now made with Tritan

  • Extremely durable
  • Resistant to staining
  • Resistant to retaining odors
  • Recommended for "extreme" adventures
  • Dishwasher Safe (top rack only)
  • Withstands temperatures from -40ºC (-40ºF) to 100ºC (212ºF)
  • BPA Free"
Being so near to Ikea, we went there for more of muffin's things and also to rest. Ikea is freezing cold too and the hub filled my new Nalgene with hot water and we used it as a heater! hahaha... it really works very well.

Over at Ikea, we got those plastic soft bibs,1 hard plastic bib set and high chair with removable table for muffin. Ya, very KS I know. The muffin is still in utero and we already gotten high chair... but since we're there, there's stock (coz someone told me, forever OOS wan or missing parts but hor, there were PLENTY, in fact BOXES and BOXES of chairs, legs and tables for the choosing) and while there's no physical muffin + muffin's diaper bag to get in the way, we just buy and store somewhere first.

Time to start heading home the items are bulky and are weighing us down. Put down all the things and rested and mulled over what or where to go for dinner then to our boring J8 again.

And this time, towels and cot bumper for muffin while I finally got my swim shorts.

I'm beginning to feel kind of left out here... all if not most of our loots are muffin's now. And I have a feeling, there's still plenty more of such trips to go!

Been shopping much.

Shopping is indeed addictive and now that I've entered into 2nd tri and with all the great sales going on, we decided that we should really hit the malls to do some retail therapy for muffin and ourselves.

After having kaya roti in Old Town White Coffee, we went on our way to the malls.

First stop, Taka! To replenish my RMK supply of the Orange Gel which I'm using as a night moisturizer. I wanted to get their 2 way foundation cake as well but I realized it din suit my needs as 1/3 of the cake is actually pressed powder which I already have a full version. No point to spend $ on only 2/3 of something which I need.

Went down to Watsons and I got the cheapo ZA cake. Value for money la.

Walked to Robinsons after that and woah. There's a 10%+20%+GST absorb lei! Too good a deal to miss and I stocked up on the cotton pads that I'm using and also got a big tub of the Borgese Hydrating Mask. After the huge discount, it's only around $75 lei!

The price must have been a real good steal coz in the end, I paid for it but I can only get my mask end of this mth! Which the SA promised she'll give me a call when the item arrived.

By then, I'm exhausted and I can feel muffin beginning to protest with cramps. I badly need a break. Very urgently, a break.

It took me close to 1 hour before I feel better. And honestly, the cramps quite scare me. I've never felt it so bad. But it got better after a long rest.

Our last stop, Mothercare. There seem to be a major sale but after we went in, we only came out with a romper pack, socks and pants pack. Everything in neutral colours since we still do not know if this muffin that we're baking is a blueberry or a raspberry muffin.

And to get neutral colors is not really easy. Minus the full whites, there really is not much choice.

I just hope that the detailed scan later this month will show us just which flavor is the muffin that we're spending so much time, effort and energy in baking!

Short evening out

It's been a long long long time since the Hub and I ventured into Orchard on a wk end and on Sat, we decided to do just that. Venture into Orchard!

Was actually supposed to go earlier, like after lunch or so, but after lunch, we both decided to take a nap and by the time we woke up, it was almost 5!

Changed and then we went off.

Oh mann... Orchard IS packed. Very. Packed.

We had a simple dinner at KFC (SINFUL and unhealthy!!!) then walked around.

At the end of the trip, the Hub got himself a new memory foam pillow with a nice name to boot - "Chiropractic Contour Pillow" and I got myself a small 3 drawer tray for my MU as I've shifted my MU to another room complete with a table and chair so I can sit down while doing my MU. The 3 drawer thing will help me organized and keep dust away.

We got a roll of cabinet mat for our cabinets and some toys for our Goddaughter whose Bday is coming up!

Though no clothes, no shoes nothing else for myself, I felt quite happy with the short trip.

Must be because for far too long, I've not gone on a leisure shopping with the Hub and such simple time is really peaceful and feels good!

The Philips Sale

Over the long weekend was the Philips sale as well as the GSS and before that on Thursday was the Isetan Private Sale.

Isetan and GSS, we din manage to go, but we did manage to go the Philips Sale with Alvin and Jenny after our Gyn appt on Sat morning.

But though we did not manage to get to the Isetan Pte Sale personally, shopping by proxy is not an issue too! =)

The proxy shopper helped me get the Pigeon Bundle which consists of the Sterlizer, Bottle Warmer, 2x240 ml and 2x160ml wide neck bottles at $175 with 5% in the form of rebate vouchers and 70's pcs of wipes as free gift. I guessed this is as good as the promotion can get and so it's decided. Muffin SHALL use Pigeon.

And at Philips Sale, we got the analogue baby monitor for muffin. The other model is the digital and we think there's too much features which is not necessary. Muffin shall just have the basic.

I got a hair dryer (FINALLY) and an electrical shaver for myself. 3 items and it's a $225 damage.

I guess, during this GSS, most things will be for muffin and not for ourselves. And we shall take it slow and steady coz, I'm still researching as to what we need to get and what we can get hands down.

It's for REAL!

It's time to spill the beans....Yep. 2 red lines since March.

We're expecting a Baby in Nov!

Kind of excited, kind of scared, kind of abit of everything I guess.

The Daddy gave me a big silly grin when I showed him the pee kit one morning...

The lil muffin is currently around 14+ weeks, the results for OSCARS (test for down syndrome) is good, putting muffin at low risk.

All we hope and pray for now is muffin to grow healthily, normally, happy, be an easy to care for child and as some mommies taught me, basically be an all rounder!

Till Nov when we do meet, lil one, be healthy, grow well and Daddy and Mommy will be waiting for you!

Hip Hip Hooray!!!

I'm soooo excited!

Hubby finally decided to take me on a holiday!

We'll be going to Taiwan from 29 Apr to 4 May (6D5N). Made our booking today with Hong Thai Travel. But the tour is not confirmed at this moment in time as it needs 10 to go. Currently, inclusive of ourselves, there's 4.

And according to the travel agency, as the travel date falls on a PH, the costs is $1,099 each but there's an early bird discount. So we end up paying $799 each and plus taxes and what nots, it works out to be $1,014 each.

But as taxes are not fixed, the price may increase. I can only hope and pray that price stays!!

I'm excited. Our first real overseas holiday where there's sightseeing, eating and shopping!!

Hip Hip Hooray!!!

Thank you Darling! =D
